More and more people are paying attention to a healthy and balanced diet. Accordingly, cooking and baking yourself is now very trendy, especially with organic ingredients and traditional foods.
A food from nature that e.g. The seeds of the chia plant have been used by people in South America for thousands of years. The chia seeds are full of nutrients and give healthy energy. They are also true power food and versatile. So you can e.g. Prepare chia pudding or chia cookies. Thanks to their gel-like consistency, you can also use the seeds to make jam with some other ingredients. The good thing: You can confidently do without the use of gelling sugar. Great for all those who want to lose a little weight, but still don't want to do without jam.
Chia jam is quick and easy to make and is therefore also suitable for anyone who would otherwise not be able to boil down. For one or two jars of chia jam you need:
- 250 g of fruit of your choice (e.g. strawberries, raspberries, soft peaches)
- 3 - 4 tablespoons of chia seeds
- 1 - 2 tbsp honey, stevia or agave syrup
- possibly vanilla, cinnamon or lemon juice
Puree or mash the fruits. Use frozen fruit, then let it boil for a short time. Then let it cool down again. Then add the seeds and sweetener and stir everything carefully so that no lumps form. If you like, you can now flavor the whole thing with vanilla, cinnamon or lemon juice.
Put the jam in an absolutely clean glass, close well and put in the fridge for a few hours, preferably overnight. Important: When filling, make sure that you do not overfill the glass, because the mass will expand later.
The jam now lasts two to three days. Boil the fruits, then up to four days.
